Count Down Until Friday

There was a time when I woke up on Monday morning and the first thing that came to my mind was “how long do I have until Friday?”

I spent so much time looking forward to tomorrow that I forgot to appreciate today. By doing so I robbed myself of joy, peace, love and even time. After much soul searching and prayer, I discovered that I was so anxious because of my negative mindset.

Fridays after 5 pm represented peace and freedom from the chores of life such as my job, being a single parent, and full time student. With that mindset, I was only enjoying 2 days out of the week. I discovered that “In my weakness, His strength is made perfect (2 Corinthians 12:9).” God has called us to cast down every imagination and everything that exalt itself against the knowledge of God and to bring it into captivity (2 Corinthians 10:5).

My perspective didn’t completely change overnight. Every morning I had to be intentional in my confession. When negative thoughts came to mind, I would quote a scripture out loud to drown out the negativity. I would turn on worship music to change that atmosphere. I started praying with my girls before we left the house. That impacted their life more than it did mine.

Before long I began to be excited about every day because I found purpose in each day. If I didn’t achieve the goal that was laid out for me, I didn’t get depressed because I still learned something. In Christ you can’t fail because we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28).

What’s your “Friday”? What is that thing that you feel you need in order to be happy? Marriage? Children? Fame and fortune? Enjoy the journey to it! During this time, you are learning more about yourself and being equipped with what you need in order to sustain the things that you desire. “Friday” will come in its appointed time, until then enjoy today.

Easier said than DONE

At times we are told or may even know we should make a change in our lives. But then we often say “It’s easier said than done.” I too, have used that same statement to justify my lack of doing “certain” things. Things that were contrary to my wants.

However, there was a part of me that did not like that statement because it went against what I believed. How can I say out, “it’s easier said than done,” yet I believe in my heart that God can do the impossible. My confession and my heart did not line up. I then realized for, “ME” that statement is an oxymoron that I used to satisfy an unbelieving heart.

I had a form of godliness but denied the power thereof (2 Timothy 3:5). I was trying in my own strength and not relying on God’s POWER. I had to stop denying the power and start denying the flesh. I had to realize, in order for me to do “it” I had to be willing to change.

I had to first change my heart then my mind would follow. I hid God’s words in my heart. I also read several books on change. One of the books is not a Christian based book, but its life changing. It causes you to do self-examination and/or reflection.  The book titled “Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson is a great book.  I recommend everyone to get a copy of it. It will bless your life.

We all want to live the best life. God wants us to live a life of abundance. Throughout our lives, life (things) happen, as it does we must change as well.  During the processes of change, growth will happen. Your thought process will go from, “Easier said than done to Done with Ease”.  Lean and trust in God and all things will be possible.

“You are ENOUGH”

We live in a world where you have to look a certain way,  have the perfect family and have at least 100,000 a year salary to be somebody or to feel accomplished. We continue to strive for the next level and never realize that who God called, he also qualified. You are where you need to be.

At times the enemy tried to sow seeds of doubt and  unfulfillment in my heart because there was a part of me that didn’t feel like I was enough or had enough  to be a great parent, wife, coworker or even friend. I didn’t want to apply for jobs because I felt inadequate. I judged myself against people who I thought had it all.  I allowed what the world viewed as success, to define who I was. One early morning about 8 years ago, I was reading in Romans (one of my favorite books of the bible) and I came across this. Romans 8: 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. 31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

WHO COULD BE AGAINST ME??? If God called me to it, he will bring me through it. He gave me the vision so surely he will provided the provision.  It’s all apart of his purpose for MY LIFE. That scripture changed my thought process which changed my life. We must believe even when we don’t see. Faith isn’t a visual thing. I can guarantee you that just about everything you are believing in God for will be contrary to what you see, hear, taste and feel. God’s way are beyond our common senses.

I want to encourage you  to take a social media time out. This is important when the things you are seeing began to speak to your soul.  Not focusing on #relationshipgoals #nailsgoals #makeupgoals  #housegoals #familygoals #shoegame instead focus on YOU because you are ENOUGH!
